Awake for 30 hours

Long time no see! I think its fair to say that things got a bit crazy there for a while. For those of you who don’t know I am in my final year of school, I take nearly 100% art visual art based subjects that are assed throughout the year – I will have one end of year exam for art history. While this does sound pretty good it means I have a MOUNTAIN of work through the year. I am the only girl at school doing this much portfolio work – there was another girl as well but she dropped design to focus on her other work. Anyway it got to the point where I was having 7 day weeks at school and the night before it was all due I had to pull an all nighter – that’s the first time ever. It was awful. I am usually pretty good at time management but with 3 assessments due in at the same time on the same day I couldn’t handle it.

I am now starting to look human again, as well as function normally so normal blogging will resume in the next few days.

(photos above are of some of the design work I submitted)

FIRST EVER BEAUTY HAUL

I can’t believe it, after over a year of blogging I have never done a beauty products haul. This is partly because I am no make up expert and I never seem to that many beauty item this is mainly because over here in New Zealand we are charged up to three times as much for make-up, so I pretty much just buy what I need. But now that I have a regular source of income I feel I can splurge a little more.

At the moment my hair is feeling a little dry and damaged so I have decided to mix up my hair care routine (start one...) and try out some new conditioners. I am also looking in to getting some hair masks and oils - recommendations woud be great!

This is pretty much your standard no frills face wash, but I really like, it especially the fact that the 'exfoliation particles' are so fine, it seems to work better than other scrubs I have used. The Swisspers night cream I picked up on a complete whim, but I do suffer from dry skin that becomes worse in the colder drier months so hopefully this helps.

I have been wanting to try out a BB cream for a while and a friend recommend me this the other day so when I saw it had 25% off I grabbed it. I also decided to pick up a concealer from Maybelline and try it out too.

And finally I was suckered by a three for $14.00 deal on Revlon nail polishes. The Top Speed polish is a re-purchase in the shade cloud, I love this colour its really lovely year round. The taupe colour polish is called mischievous, I have been looking for a colour like this for the longest time, a mix between grey, brown and lilac - sounds awful but looks amazing. The final polish is called minted, I never jumped on the mint nail polish band wagon, but I figure better late than never.  I really like that this is a really green mint rather than blue. I cant wait to paint my nails now!!

Hope your all well, Anna.

Pretending I am a real photographer.

Today was crazy, I decided last minute that I would have a do a photo shoot this morning, which basically meant with in ten minutes before I had to leave the house, I was finding all the subject matter I needed, chucking it all in a bag to take to the lighting studio. This doesn’t sound too bad but when you take in to account I am carrying a over night bag dill with camera stuff, a school bag, a camera, a laptop, and two A3 art folders it suddenly becomes quite a lot. Plus its all deceptively heavy. You have no idea how many strange looks I got walking around school today – I probably looked homeless, carrying all my worldly possessions around.

Like I said this shoot was really last minute and hardly planned (as in doing composition sketches and developing ideas etc.. ) So its probably not what you would class as ‘good’ photography but I really enjoy the spontaneity of not planning and seeing where ideas take me and coming up with what my teacher likes to refer to as ‘happy mistakes’ Personally that’s when I get the best images, when I just go with the flow and experiment.

I would love to know what you guys think of these images and any ideas you have.
Hope your all well, Anna xx

FOREWARNING + inspiration

The holidays are over and I am back at school. I spent the past two weeks in denial, the typical ‘I have plenty of time left, why rush to do homework? I deserve I break’ Now the two weeks is up, I haven’t even touched my photography book the whole time and now I have three massive deadlines, weeks away, a set to paint for stage challenge and a career path to pick. So, naturally instead of actually doing the work, I have resorted to manic planning and searching for ‘inspiration’. Because everyone knows you cant do 3 art projects without that. That’s right, I tried to dig out the diary I bought at the start of the year and never used..

This is a bit of a forewarning, for the next couple of weeks I might only be able to post every second day, which really sucks. But believe me, I would much rather be doing this than stressing over photography and design projects..

Hope your all well, Anna

THE VINTAGE VISION - blogger feature.

We all know of youtubers/bloggers such as Zoella and Beautycrush, but some of the people I enjoy watch most on Youtube aren’t as well known. Personally I find they are more dedicated to their subscribers and seem to have a more genuine passion for what they are doing.  Plus they seem a little more humble and grounded, some one you can relate to more? (Of course this isn’t exclusive to lesser known channels)

A channel I have been watching for a while is ‘the vintage vision’. It’s an understatement to say that there are a lot of thrift haul bloggers/youtubers, but if I am being honest there aren’t that many with the same kind of style I am interested in. That’s until I came across this channel. I am so jealous of all of the charity store bargains shown on this channel and I am in love with how everything is styled. I pretty much just drool each haul video. I personally don’t do much shopping on Ebay – its too hard to get it over here to NZ but on the vintage vision blog there are often EBAY DUPES videos that might appeal to some of you avid shoppers.

Anyway if you’re in to Youtube videos and/or charity store shopping this channel is highly recommended. The hauls are amazing, as well as the styling!
